Bringing Fairtrade to Life!

Pa Pa Paa LIVE! brings the lives of cocoa farmers’ kids directly into your classroom through regular webcasts.

The webcasts are made by the children of Fairtrade cocoa farmers from a rural school in Ghana. Your class can ask them questions via the website. Each webcast lasts up to ten minutes, includes subtitles, and is supported by teaching resources on Fairtrade and cocoa.

An annual subscription costs £40 and all proceeds go to the school and our education project in Ghana.

We take for granted that we always have access to clean water in our taps and electricity from a socket in the wall but for much of Africa this is not so. In this webcast we learn about what public utilities are like in Ghana. Do they have running water piped to their homes and school, or do they have to collect it from a communal water pump? Is electricity available all year or all day? What about the rubbish they generate? Is it collected and where does it end up? This webcast looks at some of the basics of life in Ghana.

"The fact that pupils thousands of miles from each other can talk 'almost' live is creative, exciting, memorable and motivational. I think that our children thought of pen pals as a real 'backward approach' - using such modern ICT helps them see the developing world on a far more 'equal friendship' basis."
